Membership Policy

Welcome to Magen Academy! We are delighted to have you as a member of our community. Please carefully review the following membership policy, which outlines the rights and responsibilities of both members and Magen Academy (the “Academy”). For the purpose of this Membership Policy (the “Policy”) the term “You”, “Your” or the “Member” refers to an approved Member of the Academy.

During the waiting period (the “Verification Period”) between the submission of your Member’s Application and it’s confirmation of approval or rejection you are referred to as an “Applicant” for the purposes of this Policy.

During the Verification Period an Applicant is not considered a Member and as such does not have access or use of any of the Membership Benefits or insurance coverages. Once successfully completed an approved Applicant will receive a welcome email notification of their having been approved which will include further details and instructions for their Membership.

1. Membership Benefits:

1.1. Depending on your chosen membership tier you may be entitled to access our courses, experiences, resources & guidance, various benefits, products and services  including but not limited to:

  • Certified courses taught by licensed instructors
  • Lessons & Training Sessions.
  • Activities and Experiences.
  • Exclusive member-only events and workshops.
  • Members-only Resources and Facilities.
  • Preferred Pricing & Proshop Perks.
  • Primary Liability Insurance.
  • Priority booking and registration for programs.
  • Professional services.
  • additional products, services and/or experiences as may be added in the future.
The Academy reserves the right to update, edit and/or amend this list of benefits at it’s sole discretion without notice as may be required from time to time.

2. Membership Fees:

2.1. Membership fees are payable annually and are non-refundable.

2.2. Magen Academy reserves the right to adjust membership rates and fees at its sole discretion with notice provided on our website. https://magenacademy.ca/membership/

3. Membership Renewal:

3.1. Memberships automatically renew unless selected to be a Single Year Payment when submitting your application.

3.2 IF ‘Single Year Payment’ is selected, your membership will terminate at the end of the year and require you to renew at that time to maintain your access to the academy. Any access and/or benefits you received including your insurance(s) will also conclude coverage in sync with the conclusion of your membership. This section 3.2 of the Membership Policy will serve as notice as to the end of your coverage. You may receive notification prior to the renewal date, providing options to renew, update, or cancel your membership.

3.2. IF ‘Auto Renewal Annually’ is selected, you will automatically be charged ahead of the renewal date of your membership. Payment must be successfully received in order for your access and any insurance coverages to continue without interruption. It is solely the Member’s responsibility to ensure their payment method is up to date to facilitate timely payment and that their membership has been successfully renewed.

4. Membership Cancellation by Members:

4.1. Members may cancel their membership at any time by providing written notice to Magen Academy.

4.2. Membership fees are non-refundable upon cancellation.

5. Membership Cancellation by Magen Academy:

5.1. Magen Academy reserves the right to cancel a membership if a member violates the terms of this policy, engages in misconduct, or behaves in a manner determined at the Academy’s sole discretion to be detrimental to the academy’s reputation or interests.

5.2. Magen Academy may also cancel a membership due to non-payment of membership fees or for reasons beyond the control of the member or the academy, such as facility closure or changes in regulatory and/or operational circumstances.

6. Refund of Membership Fees:

6.1. In the event of membership cancellation by Magen Academy, prorated refunds of membership fees may be issued at the discretion of the Academy.

7. Member Responsibilities:

7.1. Members are responsible to stay up to date with the Membership Policy found here: https://magenacademy.ca/membership/ and for adhering to the rules, policies, and guidelines set forth in the Policy by Magen Academy.

7.2. Members are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner towards staff, instructors, fellow members, facilities, facility providers and Academy property.

7.3. When on-site at an event, activity and/or experience you are representing both yourself and the fellow members of the Academy and as such have a responsibility to conduct yourself in a manner befitting of the community you represent.  This includes conducting yourself in a safe, responsible manner and looking out for the safety and best interest of the membership community.

7.4. For all Courses, Experiences, Activities and Events it is your responsibility to be on time, to arrive prepared and to participate in a manner that provides for your own and the collective safety and enjoyment of the group.

7.5 Abide by the Member’s Code of Conduct at all times:

  1. Members will prioritize safety in all activities and adhere to all safety guidelines and instructions provided by the Academy, the facility and the instructors/leaders of the course, experience and/or activity.
  2. Members will Avoid engaging in any form of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or offensive behavior.
  3. Report any safety concerns, hazards or incidents to Academy staff immediately either by communicating with the Academy representative on site OR via email: bookings@magenacademy.ca 
  4. Participate actively, positively, behave responsibly and use good judgement during all activities, courses and experiences.
  5. Avoid engaging in reckless behaviour, including but not limited to, endangering oneself or others, damaging property, or violating laws and regulations.
  6.  Practice responsible environmental stewardship during outdoor courses, activities and experiences, including being mindful to minimize impact on natural resources, wildlife and ecosystems during wilderness and survival training.
  7. Respect the confidentiality and privacy of Academy personnel, staff, instructors and other Members.
  8. Refrain from sharing personal information of confidential Academy related information without written permission of the Academy.
  9. Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all Academy policies, rules and guidelines. Seek clarification from Academy personnel if you have any questions.
  10. Represent your participation in the Academy positively and always with a mind towards the good and strong reputation of the Academy in all interactions and communications. Maintain honesty, integrity and professionalism in your conduct both within and outside of the Academy.
  11. Use Academy and/or facility resources responsibly and in accordance with any provided guidelines.
  12. Report any lost, stolen, damaged or misused resources to Academy personnel immediately.
  13. Follow first aid and safety protocols and procedures in the event of an injury or medical emergency.
  14. Seek assistance from trained personnel if you require medical attention or assistance.
  15. Strive for personal growth, skill development and continuous learning with the Academy and seek to support the same for other Members.
  16. Respect local authorities, law enforcement and community leaders and abide by the laws and regulations that govern your participation in any course, activity, purchase and/or experience at all times.
 

8. Changes to Membership Policy:

Magen Academy reserves the right to modify or update this membership policy at any time. Any changes may be communicated to members via email or posted on our website here: https://magenacademy.ca/membership-policy .

By becoming a member of Magen Academy, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide and be bound by the terms of the membership policy.

9. Inviting and Being a Reference for New Members

To Be A Member, You Must Know A Member – Only invite and agree to be a reference for potential new members who you deem will uphold the standards and reputation of the Academy and abide by the Academy’s Code of Conduct.

When you act as reference for a potential New Member you are vouching that the individual is of good moral character and would be an asset to the Academy and it’s Members.

10. Agreement to the Terms and Conditions

Members understand and agreed to the Terms and Conditions, of which an up to date copy can be found at https://magenacademy.ca/terms-conditions/ which includes liability, warranty and indemnification disclaimers and should be read carefully.

11. Enforcement and Consequences

Violations of the Code of Conduct and/or this Membership Policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension or termination of membership at the sole discretion of the Academy. Serious violations may also result in legal consequences.

By becoming a member of Magen Academy you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and the Membership policy and to uphold the values and principles they represent.
